A crust breaker is mainly used for the purpose of breaking hard crust. It is actually a solid cylinder solid cylindrical structure that is installed on the tip of an automated feeder shaft. The molten bath surface freezes and forms a crust during the aluminum production process. This crust has to be broken every 90 seconds to allow alumina addition.
